KDS is a specialist in the design, development and manufacture of power transmission systems for military vehicles.

With tightly controlled defence budgets and demands for new equipment to meet new threats, access to commercially available off the shelf technology (COTS) has become a pre-requisite of any military procurement program. Thanks to technology developed for the commercial market, KDS Drive & Control Systems are being offered into military program with new features such as electronic controls at a low acquisition and through-life cost.

KDS is a supplier of transmissions for armored and logistic vehicles, both tracked and wheeled. It is also a design house for powerpacks, using engines and cooling groups of the customer’s choice, as well as a providing of logistic support packages to specialist applications worldwide.

In view of the very specific missions that military vehicles are required to undertake, an optimal transmission system can be configured from tested and proven assemblies for most applications. These assemblies are then integrated in a housing that can be tailored to make allowance for the space available in the vehicle.

KDS has investigated various means of innovative propulsion ideas which include studies of hybrid and full EV solutions for vehicles, of the future, with innovative ideas for drive and control systems.

Studies have been undertaken for future drive options for infinitely variable hydro-mechanical or electro-mechanical solutions. These solutions, for the next generation of vehicles, are readily available for prototyping.
